Cousin Visit

Uncle Paul and the girls were on their annual "beginning of summer" road trip
which brought them through Ferndale this year!
They stopped for a couple of nights.
It was nice to have a little time to hang out and get into Bellingham.
Bella had her friend Kendra with them and she fit right in...
there was even a performance the first night.

The next day it was a walk on the boardwalk in Bellingham.
Uncle Paul's old stomping grounds!

We also needed to introduce Uncle Paul to Kulshan Brewery.
I think it was a hit!

Always fun seeing family!!!
So glad they stopped by!!!

5th Grade Moving Up

On the last day of school there was a 5th grade moving up assembly at Skyline.
Thanks to my student teacher I was able to attend!
I'm so glad I did.
Avery is excited to be "moving up" to middle school!
She had a great elementary experience but is very ready for a change!
I didn't think I would get emotional.
I really am excited for her and know she will do well....
at the same time....she's our baby.
They played a slide show and showed pictures of each 5th grader in Kindergarten and 5th grade.

And I really was doing fine.
Then the pictures changed to the kids doing various things at the school, on field trips, etc.
And this song came on.....
(If you've never heard it....look it up on youtube and listen to it.)
Yes....I cried a little.

My Wish

By Rascal Flatts
I hope the days come easy and the moments pass slow,
And each road leads you where you wanna go,
And if you're faced with a choice, and you have to choose,
I hope you choose the one that means the most to you.
And if one door opens to another door closed,
I hope you keep on walkin' till you find the window,
If it's cold outside, show the world the warmth of your smile.
But more than anything, more than anything
My wish, for you, is that this life becomes all that you want it to,
Your dreams stay big, your worries stay small,
You never need to carry more than you can hold,
And while you're out there getting where you're getting to,
I hope you know somebody loves you, and wants the same things too,
Yeah, this, is my wish.
I hope you never look back, but you never forget,
All the ones who love you, in the place you live,
I hope you always forgive, and you never regret,
And you help somebody every chance you get,
Oh, you find God's grace, in every mistake,
And always give more than you take.
But more than anything, yeah, more than anything
My wish, for you, is that this life becomes all that you want it to,
Your dreams stay big, your worries stay small,
You never need to carry more than you can hold,
And while you're out there getting where you're getting to,
I hope you know somebody loves you, and wants the same things too,
Yeah, this, is my wish. Yeah, yeah.
My wish, for you, is that this life becomes all that you want it to,
Your dreams stay big, your worries stay small,
You never need to carry more than you can hold,
And while you're out there getting where you're getting to,
I hope you know somebody loves you, and wants the same things too,
Yeah, this, is my wish (my wish, for you).
This is my wish (my wish, for you)
I hope you know somebody loves you (my wish, for you).
May all your dreams stay big (my wish, for you)

They got their certificates and shook hands with the 5th grade teachers.
Mr. Esser really enjoyed having Avery in class!

Once all students had been announced, all of the Skyline staff came up and made a
"tunnel of love" for the 5th graders to run through.

Afterwards there was a celebration in the library.
I couldn't stay long because I had to get back to my class, but stayed long enough to get some pictures of Avery and her friends.

Congratulations Avery!
We are so proud of you and are so looking forward to seeing what lies ahead!
Just like the song....our wish for you is to keep dreaming big and know that you are soooo loved!!!

Double Whammy

Annalise was hesitant to pull any more teeth out.
She had one REALLY wiggly tooth and another that was pretty loose.
One morning before school the REALLY wiggly one fell out while she was brushing.
THEN....next thing we knew, she came out of the bathroom and had pulled the other!

It was a DOUBLE WHAMMY!!
Woo Hoo!!!!

Double the tooth fairy money, too!
Way to go Annalise!!!

He thought the girls would love it.
They do!

Uh-Oh Charlie

Last year we didn't get our abundance of strawberries like we had in years past from our plants.
We figured out the only thing that had changed was the dog.
When we would pick strawberries, he would wait for us to throw him the rejects
(the berries with holes in them, overripe, etc.).
I think he must have figured out where they were coming from because we didn't have any ripe berries last year.  We could see them green....then they just disappeared before we could get out to pick them once they ripened up.
So...we decided to fence off the berries this year.  You know....to keep Charlie out.
Well....it worked...sort of.
We got some berries.
Then Charlie wanted some too.
One day after school, this is where he was when Mark got home.....

Not sure how long he was in there,
but he was really glad to see Mark!!!

Needless to say....the strawberries were all gone and the plants were trampled.
Ugh.  We'll have to come up with a better plan next year!
