A co-worker was talking about camping with her family in Southeastern Washington.
We had never been to the Walla Walla area, so when she suggested this fun campground with bike trails and family-friendly wineries nearby we were sold.
Now....I probably should have looked more closely at the map to see just how far from Walla Walla we would be camping, but I didn't.
Geoff and Robin were game to give it a try so we made our reservations and headed east.
It was HOT. Real HOT.
We were all THRILLED there was a nice, cool pool at the campground!!!
Right after dinner our first night, we were all just hanging out....
When all of a sudden, the wind started to pick up.
Dust started swirling and it felt like we were being sandblasted.
Tents were crumbling around us so we hurried into the trailer with the girls.
Mark helped Geoff and Robin secure their tent and the pop-up shade shack.
It was CRAZY!!!!!
So...we were going to have a sleepover in the trailer!!!!
Well...the wind eventually died out, but it was pretty cozy sleeping in the trailer!
Always an adventure!
That said...the next morning after our pool time we thought we might go find one of those nice family-friendly wineries in Walla Walla. Hmmmm....remember that part about me not looking too closely at the map? Well...turns out that Walla Walla is actually about an hour and a half from Prosser. Seriously?! Ok then. Lesson learned.
So we decided to try one of the local Prosser "family-friendly" wineries.
They welcomed us alright....
but we were all less excited about the hoity-toity menu.
I remember hummus, goat cheese pizza, Watermelon Gazpacho and a Lemon Garlic Monkfish (which I'm sure were all lovely).
But....we opted for a little appetizer and wine tasting....
we made it as quick as possible...the girls were starving....
So our next stop was the local Mexican restaurant.
More our style....
Geoff and Robin had to head back home the next day, but we were able to stay another night.
We went and checked out the super-cool city park....
We swam in the pool some more and were waaaayyyyy too hot to cook dinner.
We found our place.
Mark's favorite beer on tap....
And the girls got MAC N'CHEESE bites!!!! Whoaaaa....
Next time I'll look a little more closely at the map.
BUT....we still had a fun trip!!! :)
