Ski to Sea

Ski to Sea is HUGE.  It's an annual 8-leg relay race that begins at Mt. Baker and ends in Bellingham Bay in Fairhaven.  This year, organizers were expecting up to 45,000 people (spectators AND participants).  It's been years since Mark and I went down to the finish line.  Just seemed like a LOT of people to wade through.  We've seen the canoe to mountain bike hand-off a few times because it happens right here in Ferndale.

This year we met some friends and decided to do the whole street fair/race end deal in Fairhaven.  It was fun!  And yes....there were a LOT of people there!!!!!  We had a great time watching the sea kayaks come into the finish line and ring the bell.  (Not to mention the INSANE amount of awesome people watching to be done!!!)

Then....when it was getting late and the kids were all hot and tired, we got some much needed cool treats before heading home.

I'm glad we went! The kids thought it was pretty cool, too!
Maybe one of these days we'll even be on a team!!!  Hmmm....
