She And Me Encamporee

Avery and I got to go to a super-fun Mom/Daughter Girl Scout event in April.
The She And Me Encamporee took place at Cornet Bay in Deception Pass State Park.
There were 6 girls from our troop and their moms.
We left on a Friday after school and stopped in Burlington at Red Robin for dinner on the way!!!

Once we got to camp, we met some of the other campers and sang some campfire songs to get us warmed up! :)

The location was beautiful!!!

After opening ceremony, we headed to our cabin to get settled in for the night.
The girls on the top bunks, moms on the bottoms.

Addie, Emily and Avery

Alice and Annika

The next morning the girls were assigned to clean-up after breakfast.

They ate their breakfast, then got to work!!!

We got the day going with a morning meeting....

The day was a series of camp activities that we rotated through.
Our group started out in the lodge learning a bunch of traditional Girl Scout tasks in honor of this 100th year Anniversary of Girl Scouts!

First Aid with a triangular bandage....

Olivia could use a little more work on her bandage tying!

Avery, too!!!

Knot tying.....

Semaphores....
(A way Girl Scouts used to have to communicate over distance using flag signals.  Each letter of the alphabet has a different signal.)  This started off serious.  The girls were trying to spell their names or HELP, etc.  Then it became a bit of a color guard session! :)

75 uses for a bandana....
It's actually quite amazing the list there was of ways to use a bandana.
Ranging from tourniquet, hat, water filter, bandage, toilet paper to hobo pack...with lots of random ideas in between!!!  Here are Addie and Emily putting on their very best "owie faces".

After all of that it was time for snack.
Each pair of shes and mes were asked to bring 1 ingredient to be put in a GORP to be shared by all of the campers.  Seriously.....BEST....GORP....EVER!!!!!!!!  Look at this mixture!!!!!!!

We headed over to the field for some initiative games.
Including some trust activities like the blindfold obstacle course and the "circle sit".....

After working together and bonding, the girls got dressed to play some BLOOMER BASKETBALL!
The girls couldn't believe that's what they would have had to wear 100 years ago! :)

After all of that hard work, it was time for some lunch!
Then we had a little free time to go and explore Deception Pass.
We set out on a hike through the woods.

Avery had fun taking some great nature pictures on the hike!!!

We made it to the beach and took a little break....

Before dinner the girls were inspired by their bandana activity to make hobo packs....these are some serious Girl Scouts!!!

After dinner we had a great time singing lots of songs by the campfire and making yummy s'mores!  The girls were pretty tired after their busy day and went to bed a bit earlier the second night.  This coupled with the fact that they were on breakfast "duty" at 7:00 the next morning.  They popped right out of bed and got right to work making a yummy breakfast of fresh fruit, bagels and a YUMMY oatmeal with bananas, raisins and brown sugar all mixed in.

The girls were kept very busy with different responsibilities throughout the weekend and loved every minute of it!
It was also fun for us Moms. It's so nice to spend time with our girls!

We had a great weekend and can't wait until next year!!!
